Tale As Old As Time...
Our Year 7 students are going to see Beauty and the Beast at Harrogate Theatre on Wednesday 8th January 2025.
Please could we remind parents and carers to check emails for further details, or ask students to collect a letter from Student Reception. Reply slips can be returned to Mrs McLurg or Mrs Charlton.
We are sure the students will enjoy this magical pantomime.
U13 Girls' Football Update
The Rossett Reds and Rossett Blacks played some fantastic football on Tuesday. For the Year 7s it was their first school game, and a debut in goal for Year 8 student Maddy. Teagan scored approximately 5 goals per game, Merryn was solid at the back as ever and Isobel kept the goal score down by pulling off some fantastic saves to protect the Rossett Reds goal!
The Rossett Blacks came out joint top on points, narrowly losing to King James's School on goal difference.
A huge well done to all of the girls who took part!
European Day of Languages
Last Thursday our students celebrated the European Day of Languages and were greeted by many subject teachers in a foreign language.
In form, students completed an exciting quiz about European languages and in lessons some students scrutinised different dialects, looked at the advantages of the bilingual brain and used the exciting Language Challenge app on their iPads. Lunchtime was a feast of European specialties ranging from Spanish paella, French mussels, Hungarian goulash, Scottish haggis as well as German apple strudel!
Our KS3 students showed fabulous creativity taking part in a competition on the theme of “Languages for Peace” and we will announce our winners next week.
Restart a Heart Day
We are delighted to be taking part, once again, in Restart a Heart Day on Wednesday 16th October 2024 when students will learn CPR. CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation which is used to try to revive a person after a sudden cardiac arrest.
CPR is now part of the health education curriculum for secondary school pupils aged 12 and over in England. The lesson will include how to identify whether someone is in cardiac arrest (has collapsed and stopped breathing normally) and how to perform hands-only chest compressions to give the person their best chance of survival before the arrival of an ambulance.
As 80% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in the home, our students will be learning skills that may one day help someone close to them.
For more information, we would recommend visiting the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Restart a Heart website at https://restartaheart.yas.nhs.uk/.
You may also want to visit the Resuscitation Council UK Lifesaver website at www.lifesaver.org.uk. Lifesaver offers a stimulating and interactive way for people of all ages to learn CPR. Lifesaver has a scenario specifically designed for young people to learn effective resuscitation techniques and build their confidence to be able to use these skills in an emergency.
Local Road Closures
We have been advised that there will be roadworks on Pannal Ash Road from Monday 7th October to Friday 1st November inclusive. This will cause some disruption in terms of travel arrangements for students.
Bus companies are aware, and diversions have been put in place. Please consider this in terms of timings if you are dropping off or collecting your children.
The routes and diversions can be found on one.network and we will keep you updated should there be any changes.
We are hopeful that the disruption will be limited and not adversely impact our students.
Congratulations Alyssa!
Well done to Alyssa in Year 9 who made it through to the Fencing Nationals! We are extremely proud!

Cashless Catering
We are continuing to transition from SCOPAY to a payment system within Arbor.
To prepare for this, we have been working towards becoming completely cashless in terms of catering so that the move across will be seamless for both students and parents.
We have already informed our students that the ability to pay cash for meals will end from 4th November and that parents and carers will need to download the SCOPAY app.
As you will require a SCOPAY link code, the finance team will be able to provide this and can be contacted at: RSFinance@rs.rklt.co.uk. This will need to be done by 25th October. Thank you for your support with this process.
